What are Session Tracking Calls?

Calls through your Session Tracking numbers come from your website's dynamic numbers.

Dynamic number session tracking allows you to track the keywords used by website visitors in search engines and how they interact with a website. It helps to gather data on which keywords are driving the most traffic and conversions, allowing marketers to optimize their campaigns for better results. This information can be used to inform decisions such as which keywords to target in paid search advertising, what kind of content to create, and how to structure website pages.

Web Session Calls Report

The Session Tracking report provides a breakdown of the sessions and calls being tracked by your dynamic numbers, with a particular focus on visitor status, keywords and sources.

Web Session Overview

This report shows a breakdown of your total calls base on certain types of website sessions.

You can also use the Filter options to drill down further if required - eg: how many of the calls were ANSWERED vs UNANSWERED.

More information on filters can be found here.

Tip - if you hover over each of the white data points, the true value is displayed.

First Time Visitor vs Calls

The next version of this report will show you the total number of website sessions vs calls in which your dynamic numbers were presented to a visitor that Google identified as a "New User".

Google classifies new users as users who visited your site or app for the first time. This information can be reset or hidden by the user clearing their cache or using a private browser or other method od obscuring their identity from your site.

Returning Visitors vs Calls

The final version of this report will show you the total number of website sessions vs calls in which your dynamic numbers were presented to a visitor that Google identified as a "Returning User."

Google classifies returning users as users who have visited your website or app before. This is usually measured by recognising the user's Google client ID as a previous visitor to your page.

You can see the keyword values change dramatically between the total session vs the converted session metrics. The actual keyword values have been restricted for client privacy, but some interesting things to note:

You can use the Filter option to drill down further if required - eg: what are the top 5 performing keywords where the calls were ANSWERED.

More information on filters can be found here.

The final graph of Conversion Rate shows the top performing keywords where a call was made.

You can see here that the highest converting keyword phrases are when callers are using a specific location in the search phrase, likely trying to get the number for a local branch.Screenshot_2023-02-28_at_3.55.35_pm.png
